SUMMER CITICAMP

Summer is approaching the Citi and we would love to share some fun in the sun with you! Come to Citibabes where children ages 17 months – 7 years will encounter something new and exciting everyday to keep them active and engaged all summer long. Join us for one or all of our fascinating weekly themed summer adventure camps where children will laugh, sing, play, and make many lasting CitiCamp memories alongside their favorite Citibabes teachers and friends. Each week brings a different summer adventure to life – it’s like experiencing more than 12 summer camps in one!
Sign up now for one of our 3 exciting and innovative CitiCamps. All camp sessions are available in 2 week increments beginning Monday, June 4th and ending the week of August 20th.
SUMMER CITICAMP JR. (17 MOS – 27 MOS)
Tuesday & Thursday: 9:15 am -10:30 am
OR Tuesday & Thursday: 10:45 am -12:00 pm
A continuation or precursor to our CitiSchool Jr. program or the perfect summer activity for any toddler, this program provides an exciting opportunity to come in from the heat for art and sensory activities, free play, music and movement, and snacks. With exciting themed projects, children will be engaged, stimulated, and ready to start a more formal school program in the fall. Please note that children in this age-group do not separate and thus all CitiCamp Jr. campers are required to attend with an adult.

The perfect continuation of our CitiSchool 2s and 3s program, CitiCamp offers a refuge from the summer heat or the perfect activity for your days in the city. Each week will have its own theme, unifying all the activities for one week, while still providing variety throughout the summer. From music and movement to free play, art projects to dress-up, our teachers will spin the themes into a week of exciting adventures. So join us for one, two, or more fun filled camp sessions this summer at Citibabes.
SUMMER CITICAMP SR. (4 – 7 YEARS)
Monday – Thursday: 9:30 am – 1:00 pm
OR Monday – Friday: 9:30 am – 1:00 pm
Come join us for a fun-filled summer featuring both on and off-site programming for an experience sure to please all CitiCamp Sr. campers. Off-site activities include swimming every Thursday at Imagine Swimming in Tribeca and a combination of tennis at Bumble Bee Tennis and soccer at Super Soccer Stars on Tuesdays. On these days, camp begins off-site at each organization’s specially outfitted facility with their own expert instructors and our CitiCamp staff. We then return back to Citibabes for more activities and lunch. During our regularly scheduled camp days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), children participate in a medley of theme-specific art projects, free play and more, including visits from music, science, physical arts, and cooking specialists. Every other week, Field Trip Friday’s to local museums and neighborhood destinations round off the summer camp experience in this fun-filled blend of our most creative and stimulating programming yet.
CitiCamp Themes
Week beginning:
June 4th – Aloha CitiCamp: Welcome to CitiCamp, Hawaiian style. Tiki huts, leis, the beach – nothing says summer like a trip to the south Pacific.
June 11th – Dinosaur Planet: Journey back to prehistoric times as campers lean all about dinosaurs and the different world in which they ruled!
June 18th – I Heart NY: Come find out just why we (humbly) think NYC is the best city in the world! Neighborhood field trips, urban-inspired artwork and an exploration of some of our most recognizable landmarks will be sure to excite little seeds in the Big Apple.
June 25th – The Wild, Wild West: Yeehaw! Cowboys, cowgirls, and even the bandits will all join forces this week as we head out to the old west on a gold rush!
July 2nd (no camp Wednesday July 4th) – Pirates & Princesses: Treasure maps, tiaras, torches and lots of booty! Campers will delight in exploring the real and make-believe worlds of their favorite characters.
July 9th – Under The Big Top: Come clown around at the GREATEST CAMP ON EARTH as we turn Citibabes into a three-ring circus!
July 16th – The Love Generation: CitiCamp is making Summer 2012 the Summer of Love. Tye-dyeing shirts, psychedelic spin art, flowers for our hair. We’re donning our bellbottoms and going retro for this homage to the late 60’s!
July 23rd – CitiGallery: During this week of artistic expression, campers will work individually and collectively to produce canvas pieces that will adorn the walls of Citibabes for a full month as a part of the club’s ongoing CitiGallery. In addition to the art, the week will culminate in a “gallery opening” put together by the campers.
July 30th – Under the Sea: Dive down deep and discover the magical world that exists beneath the surface of the sea. Campers will explore sea creatures, coral reefs and mysteries of the ocean.
August 6th – Outdoor Explorers: Grab your binoculars and a magnifying glass and come explore the great outdoors. We’ll be looking to nature to guide us through this week of exploration of all things found when we leave the city for country life.
August 13th – Kids in Space: Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship CitiCamp and its mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no camper has gone before. 3,2,1…Blast off!
August 20th – We Are The World: From Australia to Egypt to Africa, CitiCamp is taking a trip around the world and learning all about global art and culture.

OLDER KID SUMMER MINI-CAMPS
Citibabes is pleased to introduce summer mini-camps for children ages 7 to 9 years! Camps will include age appropriate activities that revolve around set themes and facilitated by our friends at Chess NYC, RoboFun, and more!
Chess NYC’s Summer Mini Camp (7-9 years)
Week 1: June 18-21 (Mon-Thurs) 1:30-4:30 pm
Week 2: June 25th – 28th (Mon-Thurs) 1:30-4:30 pm
Chess NYC’s policy of “Chess Should be Fun” prevails for EVERY special day of mini camp! From Chess Leaders to Masters, these camps are sure to captivate, motivate and generate chess players. Each child will receive as much chess time as they like while enjoying mind clearing, fun break opportunities. Overflowing with supervision, special attention to those with greater commitment levels to chess, as well as those who need an extra boost are just a few of the advantages of this exciting week of chess camp. Full days of fun promise to send your camper home to peaceful rest… with (an educated) smile.
RoboFun’s LEGO® RCX Robotics Mini Camp (7-9 years)
Week 1: July 9-12 (Mon-Thurs) 1:30-3:30 pm
Week 2: July 16-19 (Mon- Thurs) 1:30-3:30 pm
Students will design and program interactive robots using a LEGO RCX microprocessor, LEGO bricks, and a variety of sensors. A typical program allows students to build 2-3 guided robotics projects. Sample projects include: Moon Rover, JungleBot, and Dump Truck. Family and friends are invited to attend a presentation of final projects on the last day of the workshop.
