Where are you from originally?
I was born and raised in Queens, briefly lived in North Jersey and now I’m back in the City!

What’s your favorite NYC neighborhood?
Oh, that’s a tough one! I’d say Upper West Side or West Village. I just love the quiet family vibe you get from those areas.

When did decide you wanted to work with children?
I graduated undergrad with a business degree, spent some time working in the corporate sector and then took over my family business. However, I knew I wanted to be in a field that was more dynamic and fulfilling. I was always the person that gravitated towards the kid’s table and found that I bonded with them so easily. It just seemed like a natural choice. Once I decided I wanted to work with children, I went back to school for my Masters in Early Childhood Education.

Once you made the decision to work with children, how did you decide to focus on Early Childhood Education? What is your favorite aspect of this age group?
I understood the importance of a great foundation and how that impacts development. The hugs and cuddles from the kiddos doesn’t hurt either!  My favorite aspect of working with this group is seeing the children grow before my eyes. They start out as babies and by the time they are in the 4s program, they have such a clear sense of self-esteem and confidence.

What is one piece of advice you would give a family looking at NYC preschools for the first time?
I would say to consider yourself when thinking about preschools. Children are so resilient and have an amazing ability to adapt, they will do well almost anywhere. However, parents often neglect thinking about how they fit into the equation and the community. Keep in mind you will be talking to teachers, working with the administrative team and bonding with other families – make sure the school feels great for you, too!

What are your goals for your first year at Citibabes?
My goal for this year is to get to know every family and child on a personal level. I would like to collaborate with all families on their educational goals and aspirations while making this year one of the most memorable early childhood experiences for the entire family.
