Citibabes is excited to host the first Kids Fashion Fair in NYC on September 9! We caught up with the founder of the hip mom group, Fashion Mamas and her super successful traveling marketplace for kids clothing. Learn more about Natalie and join us on September 9 by submitting your RSVP here.

Where are you from originally? Where do you currently live?
I live in Los Angeles — born and raised!

What’s your favorite NYC neighborhood?
I love East Village because it has a unique roster of cool restaurants and shopping destinations.

What’s your favorite thing to do in NYC?
EAT. I love Blossom in Chelsea — I could eat there every day. I am so sad that Angelica Kitchen is closed because that was my jam. I also love byCHLOE, Candle 79, and Sacred Chow. Can you tell I’m vegan? 🙂 I also love the nightlife and the fact that everything stays open late. Soho House in Meatpacking is my homebase.

How did you come up with the idea for Fashion Mamas? How about for the Kids Fashion Fair?
I wanted to connect all the incredible mothers I knew that worked in my industry. I thought it would be beneficial to connect women on two levels — career and motherhood — and see the magic that they could create together. I created FM in 2014 when my son was three months old, and today we have nearly 500 members worldwide with a 300-person waiting list. We’re all about quality over quantity.

Kids Fashion Fair was created in 2015, again to fill a void that I noticed. There were so many unique and cool kids clothing brands, and I wanted to have them all in one space in a marketplace format so that stylish families could conveniently shop them IRL. I’m also very passionate about shining a light on emerging talent, so creating a unique platform for these talented designers has been a true pleasure.

How do you choose the brands for the KFF?
I hand-select every designer, and although we receive hundreds of vendor applications, we only accept a small handful per fair. We’re looking for brands with a unique point-of-view that are not only interested in designing for what’s now, but for what’s next.

For someone who hasn’t been to a KFF – what can they expect?
They can see photos from past shows here for a peek. Expect a creative energy in the air and tons of Instagram-worthy moments, from the vendors to the guests to the decor! Also, expect to SHOP — I always over-spend myself when I shop our fairs. There is so much amazing talent out there and I love dressing up my little dude.

What are you most excited about for the first NY Kids Fashion Fair taking place at Citibabes on September 9?
I am so excited for our NYC debut and we’re so honored to have it taking place at Citibabes Soho! I can’t wait to see all of our amazing vendors in one place and also to host 8-year-old art star DEARGIANA‘s first-ever NY art show inside of our fair.

What does the future hold for the KFF?
More shows, more cities, more surprises.
